MIPS Education MIPS changes in 2024

In this year of the Quality Payment Program, CMS is continuing to propose more flexibility that makes it easy for clinicians to participate and gradually prepare for full implementation of MIPS.

  • Quality Measures

    • Added 11 quality measures
    • Significantly modified 59 existing quality measures
    • Removed 11 existing quality measures
    • New data completeness threshold of 75% (up from 70% in 2023) for electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs) and MIPS CQMs

    Improvement Activities

    • Added 5 new improvement activities
    • Modified 5 existing improvement activities
    • Removed 3 existing improvement activities

    Promoting Interoperability Measures

    Beginning in 2024, the performance period for the PI Category will increase from a minimum of 90 continuous days to a minimum of 180 continuous days within the calendar year.

    Also, for the Safety Assurance Factors for EHR Resilience (SAFER) Guides Measure –  A “yes” response is required to fulfill the SAFER Guide measure beginning with the 2024 performance period.
